Introduction
to the Methods of Relieving
CHAPTER XVI
This technique, ignored a long time or rejected like non scientist, made his
entry thanks to the discovery in China of acupuncturale analgesia . (suppression
of the pain without being deadened) The effectiveness is perfect at seven people
of ten (westerners as well as eastern, credulous as well as skeptics ; en even
for the animals: one made caesareans of cow in this way ) . the patient remains
conscious in spite of the lancet and preliminary concern.
Certain studies however made it possible to researchers to question a real effect of this practice. One showed for example that one could obtain good results on the pain while pricking anywhere, without reference to the indexed points of acupuncture. The idea is then to allot the effects of acupuncture to a mechanism placebo. In fact these interventions, even apart from the recognized points, produce an activation of the cerebral zones which release from the opioïdes (enképhalines), transmitter substances anti-pain. It however seems that true acupuncture has a distinctive cerebral effect, in particular on another area of the brain, the insula. It is known that this part of the cortex intervenes in the visceral processes and allows the integration of information coming from the nervous system "autonomous" (sympathetic and parasympathetic).
One could show that the points of acupuncture let pass electricity more easily than the neighbouring skin. One can, in this way, to locate them thanks to "punctoscopes" or "stigmascopes" in a very precise way. Sénélar showed that the histological structure of the skin is particular there: thinning, presence of glomi vascular, a little particular provision of nervous fibres.
The pr. de Vernejoul [3 ] could visualize the "meridian lines" by injecting a radioactive tracer with approximately a 4 mm depth, on the level of one of these points of acupuncture, of which it has just been question. The tracer product increases by 30 cm into 5 mn while following a way identical to that of the meridian line. When the injection is practised in a place different from the points of acupuncture, there is no migration... Solids arguments draw aside, in addition, the idea that the product would follow the blood or lymphatic ways.
It is possible to explain analgesia in several ways like a phenomenon of competition between messages neuronic: there would be congestion by excess of the number of nervous information of origin different (tiredness, fear) from those located ahead (anger, vigilant anguish, the frustrated desire).
In the anguish, the pulses are tended and contracted by excess of energy yang; one will invigorate the yin using points "Lo" which have a role of rebalancing of energies (for example the item six Master of the heart, the main point of Jenn Mo, etc). In the same way one will restore the balance of energies between the top and bottom, the right-hand side and the left of the body while acting on Lo points of groups (for example dispersion of the item six of the meridian line miss-pancreas). After this general rebalancing, the patient tests a relaxation. Sometimes one attends a crisis of tears.
In the depression, the pulses are soft and small, it acts of a vacuum of yang, one will use various points of toning up yang, in particular the three of the heart called "joy in life", the three of triple heater, the main point of Tou Mo.
Acupuncture can also act in the cases of cyclothymia of discrete intensity.
DO-IN
It’s a discipline which consist of massing acupuncture points or meridians, according to sensations we feel from bottom of the body to the head or arms. It’s an auto-therapy form which we can join mediation exercises (zazen), streching, passive relaxation or songs.
This practical would stimulate organs life, would prevent many diseases while making coherent the fonctionnement of each organ whith the whole of the organisation, would involve a better balance of the body and the spirit, a better sensitivity, a graeter intuition, more of capacity to communicate, understand, give .
AURICULOTHERAPY
One brings it closer to acupuncture in spite of some differences at the historical level (it is of recent creation), at the theoretical level (one does not call necessarily upon the principles Yin and Yang and the meridian lines), at the practical level (its application is more easily accessible).
Nogier [5 ] and his disciples [6 ] established a correspondence between each body of the body and a particular point of the house of the ear. All the body is thus represented on the skin of the ear; the whole of these points draws the body in a reversed way and one compared this "somatotopie" with the cerebral representation of our organization. One evokes also the image of a reversed foetus whose external auditory canal would be the umbilical cord. A representation is found similar (though currently without direct therapeutic application) to the level of the iris of the eye that would allow (? ) a diagnosis according to whether variations of texture or color affect such or such zone of the pupillary circumference [7 ]. In the same way, such a representation could be found on the plant of the foot [ 8 ].
In auriculothérapie, diagnosis and treatment are done almost simultaneously:
such point of the house, painful and tended, sign affection of such body; by
pricking this point, one treats the disease in question. The use of an electronic
detector of point and stimulative coupled allows more precision and of effectiveness.
One carries out two meetings per week approximately. The installation for example
of staples or a silk wire in a precise point of the house of the ear makes it
possible to obtain in certain cases a physical detoxication of opiates ("hard"
drugs) or tobacco. There are certain points more especially used for relieving:
· the point M of Nogier (not "marvellous")
· the point of insomnia
· the parathyroidal point.
In addition, all the muscular, chronic or acute tensions, can yield to the specific point of the contracted place. Thus can one act in a psychotherapy aiming (as in bioénergie) or with a "medical" aim in a banal manner, in the rheumatic pains of the neck, the back, the kidneys, the sciatic nerves (some of them), etc.
Being given the effectiveness and the facility of application of this technique, it is difficult to understand why few doctors use it. To study the question, return to: http://www.upml.fr/glem/index.html.
The endo-nasal réflexothérapie or sympathicothérapie (centrothérapie of Bonnier) so studied by W Fliess, the friend of S. Freud, would make it possible to treat such or such body by simple contact of a zone very sensitive inside the nose. In the Thirties, the popular review "Family Health" praised without reserve this method which was a long time the single recourse to treat the impotence (before is born sexology). All the body and each one of its parts would find on the mucous membrane of the nose their representation accessible to a treatment; it is what allows with some paradox - Dr. A. Bonneton [ 9 ] to call upon what one formerly called the "nasal stress", like remedy of the stress in general. One can notice that the use of conscious breathing (in particular alternate D/G) and the washing of the nose exploit the same register !
HOMEOPHATHY AND RELIEVING
Homeopathy uses products with very low dose chosen according to the law of similarity and the very precise experiments (called pathogénésies) on the healthy man. It is wrongly, but very often, that one brings closer them various "soft" techniques called biotherapies (gemmothérapie, aromathérapie, oligothérapie, organotherapy, etc)... They are basically different from homeopathy.
Some regard homeopathy as "inoffensive" in the two directions, namely: without danger to the patient, but also stripped of clean real effectiveness. This point of view cannot be maintained because of successes reported of a number increasingly important of patients and doctors and because of scientific work, of which some seem admissible [ 10 ].
The homeopathic doctor, vis-a-vis at the "stressed" organization, as for any other kind of disorder, seeks to locate the temperament of the patient, the specificity of sound badly: he considers the individual in his personal and single aspect, like as a whole space and temporal. It is to say that there are few receipts in this field.
The diagnosis of personality will allow, for example, to prescribe:
· with that which is tended too much ignatia, natrum muriaticum, nux
vomica, aurum
· if the major anguish dominates, it will be rather phosphorus, arsenicum,
lycopodium ;
· in the case of excessive interiorization of the affects one will propose
staphysagria, ignatia, lycopodium ;
· whereas in front of an aggressiveness of foreground one would direct
oneself towards lachesis, hyosciamus ou nux vomica ;
· and in front of an exaggerated inhibition the expert will turn to calcarea
carbonica, pulsatilla, sépia, etc.
These examples have value only illustrative, so that the richness of the possibilities
shows the end of the ear...
Homeopathy seems to act by improving the relations of the man with himself, which made say to Jacqueline Barbancey [ 11 ], this pionnière of the psychiatric homeopathy, that homeopathy constitutes "cement" of the personality. One currently attends a notable increase in the number of the psychiatrists homeopaths who follow his traces [ 12 ].
