Spontaneous  cases of telepathy are generally linked to emotionnal targets even though Delanoy (1988-1989) shows that experimental findings are somewhat equivocal. A way to enhancing this parameter is, leaving behind general ideas, to focus our efforts on individually specific targets. To do so, we propose to use a Automated Jung's Word Association Test. In the original Jungian test, the experimenter uses a  list of  « inducer words » chosen at random. The experimenter invites the subject to react to each inductive word as quickly as possible by pronouncing only the first word which is elicited in his mind. In the Automated Test, the subject is told to look at the display of a computer where he/she will see the words which are displayed in turn.; then he/she has to answer as quickly as possible and the vocal answer is recorded. After the test, the software sorts the answers by duration of reaction time. After Jung, when a word interests only the surface of the conscience, the reaction is quick; but when, the word goes through the intimacy of ego, it determines a disturbance that prevents the subject complying the instructions given : A longer reaction time occurs. Parapsychology is, from the beginning, confronted to the paradoxical Psi-missing as a counterpart of the Psi-Hitting. This odd thing is probably the clue of a mechanism which is necessary to mark borders between individuals and make the language possible. Otherwise, it appears the ESP is not under the mastering of our conscience, it comes as it wants ! Intention is not required and, its presence is not of interest ! We assume the hypothesis that the « long delay words » will give better results in term of transmission (but not necessarily as successes). They would provide more significant results (psi-hitting AND psi-missing) while « short delay words » would be at risk to give « psi-nothing ». The results of our experimental preliminary ESP study seem to be encouraging : The proportion of series at the both tails of distribution is a little bit smaller for short delay words than for long ones. If this tendency was confirmed, it would be interesting to use long delay words as potential targets for future experiments ! Under the hypothesis of a better significance for words with long delay, we hope to have discovered a very simple and easy to use instrument to select potential targets for ESP experiments. The main interest is to provide a personalized tool, more precise than general idea (affective targets better than neutral ones) parapsychology has already got.

Nous en tirons l’idée qu’il serait opportun de tester l’hypothèse selon laquelle des mots « réactogènes » au niveau non conscient seraient de meilleurs candidats à un processus ESP que des mots « neutres ». Nous réalisons un test automatique d'association de mots pour servir cette hypothèse.

In every religion and culture, miracles were described. Among them is the ability to prophesy and have precognitions, especially about the own death of the saint. Why were the saints credited of this capacity to predict their death-date ? Was not because they had nothing to fear about dying ! Death is for them the door of unbound bliss ! The Saints are worshipped the day they was born to the heaven : Their death-day ! The present investigation has the only purpose to try to know if systematical differences can be found out, in an hagiographic corpus, between predictor and non predictor « canonized catholic saints ». We collected
-          a comprehensive set of the Saints (in the Corpus « Les Petits Bollandistes ») who are pretended to have predicted the date of their own death
-           and a matched sample of the same Corpus related to Saints who did not predict the date of their death.

These data show a tendency along the centuries to a slight increasing of number of predictors compared to the number of non predictors. The delay between prediction announcement and the death itself is smaller than eight days in 25% of stories. But it can reaches several years in 50% of them. The text of the prediction is, very often, vague, ambiguous, without any precision but in 5% to 25% (according to criterion) of the observations. The predictors tell the origin of their prediction is a « vision » or an « interior locution » (21%). In a lot of stories, the hagiograph speaks about an undetermined « revelation » (42%). Sometimes that is a kind of intuition. The remaining data (15%) seem to concern logical prevision.

We can note some differences :
-       It is striking that – after our corpus - if a saint suffers martyrdom, accident or assassination, he never predicted his own death !
-       The predictor life is maybe a little bit more « lengendarized » than the other saint stories.
-       There is no significant difference for Age of death, but the mode of the two distributions is different :  about 55 (predictor) against 75 (non predictor).
The predictors, compared to the neither-predictors  nor-martyrs, seem die at a younger age, struck more often by some illness. Clearly, in 15% of the stories the saint makes a prediction based on a such logical deduction.
-       It seems the predictor age of death decreases along the century while it is stable for non predictor.
     Is the age of ancient predictor Saints magnified ?
     Are we in front of an unconscious drive to die early ?
     Is the desire to join Heaven strong enough to produce an earlier departure ?

La présente enquête se limitera à tenter de déterminer s’il existe des différences systématiques, dans la littérature hagiographique, entre les « saints catholiques canonisés » qui auraient prédit la date de leur mort et ceux issus du même Corpus qui ne l’auraient pas prédite.

Joseph F. Rychlak has theorized a psychology of the human being that merits consideration by those who seek to apply psychological theory and knowledge to the understanding of psi phenomena. Rychlakean theory appears to be more compatible with psi phenomena than are more stimulus-bound psychologies (e.g.. behaviourism, cognitive theories). Important aspects of Rychlakean theory are, reviewed, including (a) intentionality in human behavior, (In concepts of meaning, (c) dialectical reasoning in human mentation, and (d) the concept of affective assessment. The utility of Rychlakean theory for guiding and understanding the results of parapsychological research is examined.

Sheldrake a mené une étude avec des sujets qui prétendaient pouvoir deviner l'appel téléphonique d'un proche. Dans ce protocole, le sujet choisit quatre personnes par rapport auxquelles il se croit plus "sensible" et à une heure prédéterminée il reçoit un coup de téléphone de l'une de ces quatre personnes, choisie au hasard. Le sujet devait alors mentionner qui appelait (on prend la précaution d'éviter que le N° de l'appelant soit détectable sur le poste de l'appelé). Résultats : Sur l'ensemble des 65 sujets qui auraient participé à 854 tests, le taux de réussite serait de 42 %, ce qui est très significatif. Cette étude mérite d'être reproduite - ce qui ne semble pas très difficile au niveau du protocole - et son analyse statistique peut être faite par rapport à la loi binomiale (données détaillées à voir dans le N° de Juin du "Journal of parapsychology" et dans le N° de Juillet du "Journal of the Society for Psychical research"

A patient with a distinct aura of prescience as a manifestation of temporal lobe epilepsy was encountered. The experience prompted a review of this ictal phenomenon among patients attending a tertiary care epilepsy outpatient clinic.

After seven years of experiments (1993-2001) the Agape project is being evaluated (from 2001, September ). Dans la population de participants considérée, constituée de volontaires recrutés sans méthode particulière (amis, connaissances, presse), on a 274 individus de sexe féminin et 145 individus de sexe masculin pour un total de 418 personnes. Soit environ 2/3 de femmes pour 1/3 d'hommes. L'étape suivante du projet a démarré en Septembre 2001 et a permis l'évaluation précise des résultats (par un groupe universitaire de statisticiens indépendants).

The Waterloo Sleep Experiences Scale was developed to assess the prevalence of sleep paralysis and a variety of associated hypnagogic and hypnopompic hallucinoid experiences: sensed presence, felt pressure, floating sensations, auditory and visual hallucinations, and fear. Consistent with results of recent surveys, almost 30% of 870 university students reported at least one experience of sleep paralysis. Approximately three-quarters of those also reported at least one hallucinoid experience. Fear was positively associated with hallucinoid experiences, most clearly with sensed presence. Regression analyses lend support to the hypothesis that sensed presence and fear are primitive associates of sleep paralysis and contribute to the elaboration of further hallucinoid experiences, especially those involving visual experiences.
